Your days will be spent exploring the pristine wilderness areas of Botswana, and creating magical memories of the African bush that will live with your family for many years to come.
Day 1 & 2: VICTORIA FALLS (Ilala Lodge)
Upon arrival in Victoria Falls, you will be transferred to your hotel to freshen up from your flight. In the afternoon you will be taken on a guided tour of the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls. You will be amazed as you watch the mighty Zambezi River tumble over the 100 metre high, and almost 2km long, chasm, truly one of the most amazing sights in Africa. You will spend your first night in Africa watching the sun set while on a dinner boat cruise on the Zambezi River.
Day two is free for you take part in some of the many activities available in Victoria Falls. Your children will have a ball in this the adventure capital of Africa!
Day 3 & 4: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (Chobe Game Lodge)
After breakfast, you will be transferred by road into Botswana and to the amazing Chobe River. Home to the largest herds of elephant on the planet, Chobe National Park has its northern boundary along the Chobe River. Chobe Game Lodge has direct access to the Park, the only lodge where this is possible.
Upon arrival at Chobe Game Lodge, the friendly staff will welcome your family to Botswana and present your children with their special safari activity backpack.
The Chobe National Park riverfront offers, quite simply, one of the most impressive safari experiences in Africa. Chobe Game Lodge is the only lodge in the Chobe National Park situated on the magnificent Chobe River, and this alone makes it first choice for a once-in-a-lifetime safari experience.
The accommodation at Chobe Game Lodge consists of 42 twin/double rooms, four luxury private suites and one family unit. Rooms are all newly refurbished, river-facing, with spacious decks and air-conditioning, and have a complimentary mini-bar. There are seven inter-leading rooms, ideal for friends and families travelling together.
The main lodge area offers many dining areas, two bars, a variety of lounges, and a curio shop and swimming pool. Along the front of the lodge an elevated boardwalk travels along the river to the ‘Chobe Deck Of Fam’ which overlooks the vast floodplains. At certain times of the year, these floodplains are visited by hundreds and at times thousands of elephant, offering quite possibly the best elephant viewing experience in the world.
Your time at Chobe Game Lodge is spent exploring this incredible area by vehicle and by boat with your guide.
Day 5 & 6: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (Savute Safari Lodge)
On day five we leave the Chobe River and make our way to deeper into Chobe National Park and Savute Safari Lodge, situated on the Savute Chanel. The channel stretches from the waterways of the Linyati all the way to the Savute Marsh, providing the western section of the Chobe National Park with life-giving water.
Savute Safari Lodge consists of 11 luxury thatch and timber chalets and one family suite, all raised on expansive private decks. These decks offer the perfect vantage points to take in the resident bull elephants, and watch the resident predator species which make the area famous. The lodge boasts a swimming pool, sundeck, expansive viewing deck and an al fresco dining area, all overlooking the busy waterhole.
Your time at Savute Safari Lodge is spent on private game drive activities with your guide.
Day 7 & 8: MOREMI GAME RESERVE (Camp Moremi)
On day seven we move to world famous wildlife area Moremi Game Reserve (aircraft transfer) to Camp Moremi. It is in Moremi that the waters of the Okavango meet the plains of the Kalahari Desert, creating a game-rich sanctuary of mopane forests, open grasslands, seasonal floodplains and riverine habitats.
Nestled beneath giant ebony trees, Camp Moremi, in the Xakanaxa area of the Moremi Game Reserve, is the definition of the word ‘safari’. Eleven luxurious custom style safari tents and one luxury family suite consisting of two bedrooms, each with an en-suite bathroom, make up Camp Moremi. Families consisting of three children can be accommodated in the family room, with the addition of an extra bed. The 12 tents are all raised on teak platforms, with Camp Moremi accommodating just 24 people.
The elevated tree house forms the main public area at Camp Moremi, and houses a lounge, library, bar and dining room. Other facilities include a garden boma area, where breakfast and teas are served, curio shop, large grounds, a lookout deck and secluded plunge pool.
Days are spent exploring the paradise of Moremi on private activities with your private safari guide. These include morning and afternoon game drives in an opn 4×4 vehicle, and exploring the surrounding Okavango channels by motorboat.
Day 9 & 10: MAKGADIKGADI PANS(Leroo La Tau)
Your final destination in Botswana is the remote Leroo La Tau Lodge on the western edge of the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, overlooking the beautiful Boteti River. Leroo La Tau is built on cliffs over 10 metres above lush riverine forest, offering a vantage point that ensures unsurpassed views of the river and the Makgadikgadi Pans to the east.
The lodge’s unique location on the banks of the Boteti River offers unsurpassed wildlife viewing experiences. With very limited water sources in the area, the waterholes in front of the lodge attract large herds of zebra and wildebeest. Leroo La Tau translates as ‘lion’s paw’ but, although the surrounding area is home to abundant lion, you’ll also see Chobe bushbuck, leopard, cheetah, brown and spotted hyena, impala, kudu, jackal, porcupine, genet and caracal, to name but a few.
The lodge features twelve luxurious thatched and glass-fronted suites with en-suite bathrooms, each unit raised on a wooden platform. The main lounge and dining area allows you to relax at the bar while listening to the wide variety of night sounds so characteristic of the African bush. Alternatively, you can lounge around the swimming pool or enjoy the panoramic river views from the game-viewing hide built into the bank of the river.
You will explore this magnificent area on guided game drives in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, focusing on the abundance of wildlife along the Boteti River. Water level dependant, boat activities are also provided. Optional cultural excursions can be arranged to Khumaga Village.
Please note: Owing to their remote location within the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, the Makgadikgadi Pans themselves are not visited on daily scheduled activities from Leroo La Tau.
