SUGGESTED ITINERARY
Day 1 & 2: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (Chobe Safari Lodge / Chobe Bush Lodge)
Your highly skilled, professionally qualified guide will meet you at Kasane International Airport, Botswana. From here we will depart for Chobe National Park, and either Chobe Safari Lodge, or Chobe Bush Lodge (accommodation dependent on availability).
On Botswana’s far northern border lie the Kwando, Linyanti and Chobe River systems that form an exquisite mosaic of lakes, islands, channels and floodplains. Part of this system is the Chobe National Park, famous for its immense herds of elephant and buffalo, which you will witness on game drives and boat cruises.
Both luxurious lodges are situated in Kasane on the banks of the Chobe River and share a border with Chobe National Park. Both are also a stone’s throw away from the meeting point of Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia, therefore offering an excellent getaway location to Chobe, Victoria Falls or Caprivi.
Accommodation at both lodges consists of spacious, modern en suite rooms, each with air-conditioning, TVs and safes, as well as magnificent views over the Chobe National Park.
Your days here will be spent on boat cruises and game drives, taking in the sights and sounds of this beautiful piece of African wilderness.
Included meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner
Day 3 & 4: KWANDO WILDERNESS (Lebala Camp)
On day three we will fly via light aircraft to the Kwando Concession, northern Botswana, and make our way to Lebala Camp. The camp is situated on the wide open plains of the Linyanti marshes, which form the boundary between Botswana and Namibia. The southerly flowing Kwando River disappears into this vast marshland before emerging as the Linyanti River.
The scenery here is dominated by vast plains with scattered palms, tree islands and wooded savannahs. This special ecosystem is home to a wide variety of Africa’s plains game such as zebra, wildebeest, impala, giraffe and tsessebe, and also provides shelter for lechwe, waterbuck and the shy sitatunga.
The wild expanse of scenery contrasts with the casual, understated luxury of the camp. Accommodation consists of eight custom designed tents, with unique mosquito net walls, which allow both the unobstructed flow of cool breezes and stunning views. Each tent has its own viewing deck, bathroom and lavish double outside shower.
You will spend your time at Lebala on day and night game drives, and on game walks (seasonal), hopefully spotting the predators and massive elephant herds the area is famous for.
Included meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner – and all drinks
Day 5 & 6: MOREMI GAME RESERVE (Pom Pom Camp)
On the morning of your fifth tour day we will depart by light aircraft for the water wonderland of the Okavango Delta, and the idyllic Pom Pom Camp.
The camp is located on Pom Pom Island in a private concession situated in the heart of the Okavango Delta, and on the waters of the Xudum river system. The area lies on the western boundary of the famous Moremi Game Reserve and offers superb Okavango scenery, the quintessential beautiful palm-fringed channels, lagoons and islands of the region, and a true Okavango wilderness experience.
Accommodation consists of nine luxury safari tents designed in true safari style, all with full en suite, semi-open ablution facilities. The tents are uniquely positioned under the shade of the surrounding trees with views of the tranquil Pom Pom lagoon. The main building is delightfully designed and constructed of thatch and canvas, and comprises lounge, dining, bar and pool areas, as well as a gift shop and boma area. The swimming pool is situated close to the main lodge and the bar, making it the ideal location to relax during the heat of the day.
Your days here will be spent on game drives (night and day), taking in the rich diversity of game and birdlife this idyllic wilderness area has to offer.
Included meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner – and all drinks
Day 7 & 8: OKAVANGO DELTA (Gunn’s Camp)
On day seven we head south via light aircraft to the intimate Gunn’s Camp which overlooking Chief’s Island and Moremi’s game-rich seasonal floodplains.
Gunn’s Camp is one of the last few remaining luxury, vintage safari camps. Set under leafy palms and African Ebony, the camp blends seamlessly with its surroundings and, despite its high levels of comfort, does not isolate guests from the sights and sounds of the wilderness.
Accommodation consists of six fully furnished, deluxe Kenya-style meru tents with en suite bathrooms, featuring standalone baths and private outdoor showers. Set on raised platforms overlooking the Delta plains, Gunn’s Camp is ideal for honeymooners or guests looking for a more romantic and intimate safari experience.
Gunn’s Camp has a spacious, shaded and elevated communal area with spectacular views over the Boro River to Chief’s Island. Guests have access to the elevated bar, lounge and dining room, campfire boma and swimming pool.
Your days will be spent being silently poled through the winding Delta channels on mekoro (traditional dug-out canoes), on game walks on Chief’s Island in the Moremi Game Reserve, and on motorboat excursions.
Included meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner – and all drinks
Day 9 & 10: CENTRAL KALAHARI GAME RESERVE (Tau Pan Camp)
Day nine sees you head to the starkly beautiful Central Kalahari Game Reserve (via light aircraft), and Tau Pan Camp. The area is known for it’s severe beauty, desert-adapted animals, plains antelope, and black-maned lions. Your home for two nights, Tau Pan, is the first safari camp to be built in the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, and the model of ecological sensitivity.
Tau Pan accommodates up to eighteen guests in luxuriously designed thatched units on raised decks. The camp offers astonishing views from the ridge of an ancient sand dune, an unusual experience in a land as flat as Botswana, and overlooks the famous Tau Pan, known for its simple, remote beauty.
Activities offered at Tau Pan are game drives, day trips to the well-known Deception Valley, and the Sunday, Piper and Passarge Pans. Dining out under the dazzling night skies, bush brunches on Tau Pan, and nature walks with Bushman trackers are some of the other highlights you can look forward to.
Included meals: breakfast, lunch & dinner – and all meals
Day 11 & 12: NXAI PAN NATIONAL PARK (Nxai Pan Camp)
Your final two nights are spent at Nxai Pan Camp, located on the western edge of the fossil pan from which the camp takes its name, in the Nxai Pan National Park. The area is famous for the towering Baines’ Baobabs and plentiful wildlife.
The camp faces east over the open grasslands of the pans and accommodates a maximum of eighteen guests in thatched units which are specifically designed to provide a continuous and comfortable temperature throughout the year. Game viewing is possible from the comfort of your room, as the permanent water hole in front of the camp draws a multitude of mammal, and bird, species.
Your time at Nxai Pan will be spent on game drives, day trips to the famous Baines’ Baobabs and Khama Pan, staring up at the magnificent night skies, and nature walks with Bushman trackers.
