ITINERARY

Day 1 & 2: MAKGADIKGADI PANS NATIONAL PARK (Leroo La Tau)
Upon arrival in Maun International Airport, you’ll be met by a representative and escorted to your light aircraft for your first air transfer of the trip.

Leroo La Tau is situated on the western bank of the Boteti River overlooking the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, which stretches away from the riverbank towards its interior of scrubland and mineral-rich grasslands. These grasslands attract large numbers Zebra during their annual migration into the area during the rainy season.

Leroo La Tau features twelve luxurious thatched and glass-fronted suites with en-suite bathrooms, each unit raised on a wooden platform overlooking the Boteti River & Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The main lounge and dining area, with its inviting wooden and thatch finish, allows you to relax at the bar while listening to the wide variety of night sounds so characteristic of the African bush. Alternatively, you can relax in your beautifully appointed suite and enjoy the spectacular scenery of this area.

You will explore on morning and afternoon guided game drives in the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park focusing on the exceptional wildlife sightings along the Boteti River. Depending on the water level, boat activities are also provided. Optional cultural excursions can be arranged to Khumaga Village.

On your game drives you have a chance of seeing Lion, Zebra and Wildebeest Leopard, Cheetah, Brown and Spotted Hyena, Impala, Kudu, Jackal, Porcupine, Genet and Caracal, to name but a few. (Please note: Owing to their remote location within the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, the Makgadikgadi Pans themselves are not visited on daily scheduled activities from Leroo La Tau).

Day 3 & 4: OKAVANGO DELTA (Camp Okavango)
Botswana’s magnificent Okavango Delta (a World Heritage site) is the world’s largest inland delta, and is a maze of deep lagoons, large lakes and hidden, meandering channels. During the annual flood season the Delta covers a vast area of over 16 000 km² before shrinking to less than 9 000 km² in the dry season. Trapped in a basin of parched Kalahari Desert sand, the freshwater oasis attracts wildlife that depends on the permanent waters of this unique environment.

You will fly by light aircraft from Leroo La Tau to Camp Okavango located in the heart of the Okavango Delta on the remote Nxaragha Island. This hidden treasure with year-round water, assures its guests of an unparalleled wilderness experience. Each suite has been built on elevated wooden platforms and set beneath the thick Okavango vegetation. The main area comprises of a network of interconnected walkways linking up two lounge areas, a dining room, library, self-service bar and curio shop. Sweeping ramps lead to the lower level deck with two open-air fire pits and comfortable seating areas to relax and take in the natural surroundings. There is a third deck with a rim flow swimming pool and thatched lounge deck for those warm summer days. With its open-air design and elevated position, Camp Okavango is an eco-sensitive lodge which captures the very essence of the Okavango Delta.

Being in the heart of the Okavango Delta, you will explore this area with your professional local guide on motorboats, or by traditional mokoro. For those looking for a bit more of an adventure you can set out on a guided bush walk with your guide. Walking in the African bush with your guide is an experience not to be missed as the bush comes alive all around you as you become aware of all the smaller plants and animals that can be missed on other wildlife viewing activities.

Day 5, 6 & 7: MOREMI GAME RESERVE (Camp Moremi)
Moremi Game Reserve is world renowned as one of the best game viewing areas in Africa. Moremi lies in the centre of the Okavango Delta. It consists of permanently swamped areas, seasonally swamped areas, forest and savannah woodland and covers an area of 3000 square kilometers. The animal life inhabiting the park is abundant and equally diverse, ranging from exotic birds, to zebras, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffes, hippos and lions and many others that we hope to see on the morning and afternoon game drives.

Camp Moremi is ideally located in the heart of Moremi Game Reserve on the edge of the Xakanaxa Lagoon in an area known for its spectacular game-viewing opportunities. The location is guaranteed to maximise the best that Moremi has to offer. You will stay in luxury thatched safari tents which are expansive with spacious bathrooms consisting of double vanities and showers, and private decks offering views over the Moremi Game Reserve. Camp Moremi’s communal areas includes a sunken bar, an expansive lounge area, library and swimming pool.

You’ll explore this amazing are on morning and afternoon game drives in open 4WD game viewing vehicles, or you can explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon and surround channels by motorboat (subject to water levels). Day 8, 9 & 10: CHOBE NATIONAL PARK (Chobe Game Lodge)
After a final game drive in Moremi, your light aircraft transfer takes you over the vast expanse of Chobe National Park. On the flight there is a good chance of some fantastic game viewing before you arrive at the Chobe River the forms the northern boundary of the park. It is the Chobe River that attracts and abundance of wildlife – it is, for instance, home to the largest concentration of elephant in Africa. During the dry season these large herds, as well as vast herds of buffalo, congregate on the fertile flood plains along the Chobe River to drink, bathe and play. There are frequent sightings of lion, African wild dog, puku, red lechwe, sable, giraffe and roan antelope and many more.

Chobe Game Lodge is the only permanent game lodge situated inside Chobe National Park on the river. This unique location means that it is the perfect base to explore the National Park and the Chobe River. The lodge offers a choice of land or water-based activities and the most complete game experience in the Chobe National Park. Early-morning and late-afternoon game drives are conducted by expert guides in open-sided 4×4 vehicles. Game viewing boat cruises on the Chobe River are conducted from small and highly manoeuvrable boats, perfect for morning or sunset cruises. Day 11 & 12: VICTORIA FALLS (Victoria Falls River Lodge)
To end off your amazing honeymoon what better place than the romantic Victoria Falls River Lodge. The only private lodge situated inside the Zambezi National Park, this small and intimate lodge is the perfect place to spend the last 2 nights of your safari.

Day 13: VICTORIA FALLS AIRPORT – Safari ends
Your final day on safari sees you enjoy a lazy romantic breakfast before being transferred by road to Victoria Falls Airport for your onward flight.
