BOTSWANA ADVANCED PHOTOGRAPHY SAFARI
Are you keen to take your photography skills to the next level? The Botswana Advanced Wildlife Photography Safari is designed for people with their own gear and a good understanding of the non-auto settings on their cameras.
You will be escorted through the Botswana wilderness – the famed wildlife havens of the Okavango Delta and Chobe – by one of our award winning resident photo guides in a group of no more than eight.
ITINERARY
The first half of the workshop will take place in Chobe, staying at The Chobe Lodge. The majority of activities will be on the Chobe River shooting alongside your photographer host. During the day the editing suite will be reserved for group post-production sessions.
On day four you will board a charter flight (included in the package) for the one hour flight to the 200,000ha the Khwai Private Game Reserve – home of the Khwai Camp. In the reserve, you will be doing more land-based activities in two of our modified game viewing vehicles. Each vehicle will take a maximum of four guests and your photo host will rotate between the two with each morning or afternoon game drive.
At the end of the safari, we are confident that you will not only see a marked improvement in your knowledge and skills set, but will also have enjoyed several days of excellent wildlife photography with like-minded people in two of the most beautiful parts of Botswana.
During the day the professional photographer hosts will be on hand to help you with your digital post production. You should bring your own laptop loaded with either Lightroom or Photoshop to benefit most from these sessions. They will be held around the dining room table as a group exercise, but there will be plenty of time for one-on-one training on specific post-production techniques if required.
As we know wildlife photography is never predictable so we cannot set out an exact syllabus, but your hosts will endeavour to help you master some of the following techniques as each opportunity presents itself:
- Panning
- Fast exposures
- Shooting in low light
- Slow exposure shooting
- Mastering birds in flight
- Creative use of depth of field
- Wide and angle creative composition
- Creative uses of exposure compensation
