ITINERARY
This is a sample itineray. We can tailor-make specific tours to match your dates, special requirements, and group size.
Day 1 STELLENBOSCH
From beautiful Cape Town you will make your way to the grand, and vibrant, university town of Stellenbosch in the heart of the Cape winelands. You will spend the night here at the central and delightful Stellenbosch Hotel.
The Stellenbosch Wine Route is arguably the country’s most famous, and you will enjoy a long day of wine tasting, and wine buying, in one of South Africa’s most picturesque locations. A centre of arts and culture, Stellenbosch has many galleries and museums housing important national and international art collections, and the Stellenbosch Conservatoire is the country’s oldest music school.
Day 2 HERMANUS
From Stellenbosh you will drive a short distance over the ‘Overberg’ to the beautiful coastal town of Hermanus, and the stately Windsor Hotel.
Magnificent mountains watch over the town, and many people visit to see the whale spectacle just off the coast, from July to November. This has given Hermanus the well deserved title of best land-based whale-watching destination in the world.
Day 3 OUDTSHOORN
On day three you will head up the coast towards the Garden Route, through lovely farmlands and charming towns, and arrive in Oudtshoorn, the centre of the Klein Karoo, and famous for being the ’ostrich feather capital’ of the world. The town is also close to the natural wonder of the Cango Caves. You will spend the night here at the charming and tranquil Hlangana Lodge.
Day 4 WILDERNESS
Today you leave the Klein Karoo and head to the village of Wilderness, passing through the stunning Kaaimans River Pass along the way.
Wilderness is the start of the Garden Route, and offers a enchanting world of lakes, rivers, estuaries and beaches, with a backdrop of lush forest and mountains. You will spend the night here at Cormorant Guesthouse, which offers peace and comfort in stunning surroundings.
Days 5 – 6 KNYSNA
After a short drive up the coast you will find yourself in Knysna, the heart of South Africa’s famous Garden Route. Charming Knysna is the unofficial capital of the Garden Route, surrounded by forests, lakes, mountains and sea, and is situated on the country’s largest permanent estuary. Set on the edge of the lagoon, Knysna Hollow Country Estate is your home for the next two nights. The estate is situated in magnificent gardens and close to all of the attractions in the area.
Day 7 – 8 ADDO ELEPHANT PARK
Addo Elephant National Park gives you the opportunity to spot game in “Big 5” country. The Park is South Africa’s second largest national park and is also malaria free. Your accommodation is at Kudu Ridge Game Lodge, on a private game reserve adjacent to Addo Elephant National Park.
Day 9 PORT ELIZABETH
From Addo, you will head towards the ‘friendly city’ of Port Elizabeth, a major seaport and tourist destination along the picturesque shores of Algoa Bay. Today is the last day of your tour. You will spend the night at Port Elizabeth City Lodge.
