Unlocking the Serengeti’s Secrets with Usawa Camp

Usawa Camp Serengeti

While our focus is primarily on Southern Africa safaris, we simply had to share this exceptional experience in the Serengeti. With availability for September and October and wildlife sightings currently at their peak, it’s an opportunity not to be missed.

Imagine a safari experience that moves with the rhythm of the wild. This is the essence of Usawa Camp, a luxury mobile tented camp that truly embodies its Kiswahili name, which means “balance.” Usawa is a mobile camp that moves with the migration, bringing you to the extraordinary Lamai area and placing you at the forefront of the action without the crowds.

Lamai, located north of the Mara River, is one of the Serengeti’s most untouched regions. From mid-July onwards, this area becomes a spectacular stage for the vast herds during the rutting season, providing a more secluded and tranquil migration experience away from the busier tourist spots. The camp’s unique mobile operation ensures you are in the best possible location to witness this legendary spectacle, guided by decades of experience and real-time wildlife movements.

Usawa Camp itself offers an intimate adventure, accommodating just 12 guests in six beautifully appointed en-suite tents. Each tent is a haven of comfort with safari-style furnishings and a personal coffee bar, while the entire camp runs on solar power, leaving a minimal footprint on the magnificent landscape.

The experience at Usawa goes far beyond a typical game drive. While daily drives are a highlight, you can also embark on guided walking safaris in designated zones, go birding, or gaze at the incredible starry skies. For an additional cost, a hot air balloon adventure offers a breathtaking new perspective on the plains below.

Whether you are witnessing the dramatic river crossings or simply enjoying the peacefulness of this secluded part of the Serengeti, Usawa Camp at Lamai provides an unparalleled and authentic connection to one of the world’s greatest natural spectacles.
